To enhance the awareness on
occupational safety, health and environment
situation and improve the culture of decent working
condition in workplace, OSHE has organized a two day
long Trainers Training Workshop on Occupational
Safety, Health and Environment in RMG sector, from
12-13 December 2006 at Bangladesh Institute of
Management, 4 Sobhanbug, Mirpur Road, Dhaka with the
collaboration of Asia Monitor Resource Centre (AMRC,
Hong Kong).
The key objectives of the training were as follows:

To
trained-up a pool of health and safety
trainers in RMG sector at national level
to jointly work for promotion of decent
work by participatory method. |

To develop
OSH human resource among trade unions
and NGOs working on promotion of human
rights of workers in RMG sector. |
 |
Building
capacity and network among RMG sector
trade unions and labour NGOs to
collectively work on OSH and Workers
rights issues in RMG sectors. |
25 representatives from 10 different industrial
federations in RMG sector (mainly ITGLWF
affiliates), officials of labour NGOs and
representative of employer’s side (BGMEA) attended
this workshop.
Mr. Sanjiv Pandita, Programme Coordinator (OSH) Asia
Monitor Resource Centre, Hong Kong, Omana George,
Communications Officer, Asia Monitor Resource
Centre, Hong Kong were the main facilitators of the
training course.
Ms. Saki Rezwana, Chair Person of OSHE inaugurated
the training. In her welcoming speech to the
participants, she emphasized the importance of
workers right especially in the workplace. Then Mr.
A. R. Chawdhury Repon presented an instructive
presentation highlighting the present workers force
and condition of workers especially in workplace.
