Bangladesh Occupational Safety,
Health and Environment Foundation (OSHE) finally, as
part of the one of its scope of functions, has
started legal support programme for the workplace
accidents victims or its dependants. As part of the
process, OSHE initially sorts out the related
workplace death or injury from fifteen daily
national newspapers and then refers it to the Ain-O-Salish
Kendra (ASK) for investigation.
After contacting with the victim’s dependants (for
death cases) or the injured workers, if they wish to
take legal support with the object of obtaining
legal compensation, OSHE refers the victim’s
dependants or the injured workers to the Bangladesh
Legal Aid and Services Trust (BLAST) who is
responsible for taking all sorts of legal
proceedings to obtain the compensation either from
the employer or the court, if requires. More
interestingly, already two cases relating to
obtaining compensation have been referred to the
BLAST. |
